Syrians in Sweden: Constructing Difference Regarding Gender and Family

Abstract In this article, we look at the discourse used by Swedish state in describing non-European migrants, among them Syrians, and how has constructed cultural divisions between ‘native’ Swedes Syrian migrants. We reveal immigrants are depicted treated as coming from ‘patriarchal’ ‘collectivist’ cultures therefore need of development. then connect framing migrant culture to honour-related violence is public institutions explain such a problematic. also some migrants have turn employed stereotypical language their depiction state. Engaging with existing work on ethnic groups boundaries, find that boundary-making process both produces perception difference groups.
